BANDARRA E A EXPANSÃO ULTRAMARINA: CENTRALIZAÇÃO POLÍTICA E IDENTIDADE LUSITANA
Resumo
Gonçalo Annes Bandarra foi um sapateiro que viveu em Portugal no século XVI, na Vila de Trancoso. Autor de trovas de caráter profético, foi perseguido, preso e condenado pela inquisição lusitana. Sua obra adquiriu importância crescente em Portugal, em especial após o desaparecimento de D. Sebastião, sendo um documento fundamental para o entendimento do messianismo português. Apesar de sua importância, poucos estudos se preocuparam em inseri-las em seu tempo. Esta é a proposta deste artigo: entender as Trovas de Bandarra em seu tempo, ou seja, a primeira metade do século XVI, momento marcado pelo processo de centralização política do reino e de expansão ultramarina. Abstract. Gonçalo Annes Bandarra was a shoemaker who lived in Portugal during the 16th century in Vila de Trancoso. Author of prophetic ballads, he was pursued, arrested and condemned by the Portuguese Holy Office. His work got increasing importance in Portugal after the disappearance of D. Sebastião, and was a fundamental document for the understanding of Portuguese Messianism. Despite its importance, few studies were concerned with inserting them in their own times. This is the objective of this article: understand Badarra’s ballads in his own time, that is, the first half of 16th century, a moment marked by the political centralization process of the Kingdom and the ultramarine expansion process.Downloads
