Abstract

The present work demonstrated the presence of Diplostomum sp (Digenea) in corvina (Plagioscion squamosissimus Heckel, 1840) from the Volta Grande Reservoir (MG). Prevalence, intensity and seasonality in the natural conditions were evaluated. Fishes were bimonthly collected with the aid of a net, during the period of December 1995 through December 1996. Thirty one out of sixty eight fishes were parasitized in the eyes. The prevalence was 45,6% and the mean number of parasites was 13 varying from 1 to 34.

Possui mestrado em Aqüicultura pelo Centro de Aqüicultura da Unesp (1994) e doutorado em Aqüicultura pelo Centro de Aqüicultura da Unesp (2000). Atualmente é Professor Adjunto II da Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina e integrante do Laboratório de Diagnóstico e Patologia em Aqüicultura do Departamento de Aqüicultura, CCA, UFSC, SC. Tem experiência na área de Aqüicultura, com ênfase em Ictiopatologia e Ictioparasitologia, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: hematologia, parasitologia de peixes, ecologia de parasitos de peixes, estresse e inflamação em peixes, probióticos na aqüicultura, imunoprofilaxia.
