Abstract

The present bibliographical study, of qualitative nature, was developed with the objective of investigating the strategies used to attend the family living with a chronic disease. Data was collected in the month of July 2008 from consultation to the portal of thesis and dissertations of the Brazilian Federal Agency for the Support and Evaluation of Graduate Education (CAPES), through an association of the keywords family and chronic disease. Sixty-three studies developed after the year 2000 were selected. From them 27 were analyzed, for they were made available in the whole. The studies pointed care strategies in the hospital and home scope, bringing ways to execute the care in those areas in what involves mainly an attendance of humanized nursing, a familial care and also the need of changes in the professional formation, with view to qualify the graduation student to act in that context.
