Resumo

O artigo analisa o sentido dado à arborização por Abílio Barreto e Raul Tassini em textos sobre a história da cidade de Belo Horizonte, no início do século XX. Por essa análise compreende-se que a percepção dos elementos naturais esteve relacionada à construção de uma identidade para a nova capital. Abstract. This article identifies the sense given to the urban trees by Abílio Barreto and Raul Tassini, when they write about the history of Belo Horizonte in the early twentieth century. Through the analysis, the author understands that the perceptions of those natural elements were closely related to the construction of the identity of the new capital.
