THE URBAN CONTRASTS OF REAL ESTATE SPECULATION: FIELD REPORT IN LONDRINA (PR)
Abstract
This article intends to rescue the analyzes obtained through a field accomplished in the city of Londrina (PR) in September 2009, with the purpose of finishing the discipline of Urban Geography, taught by the late Prof. Dr. César Miranda Mendes. Through this empirical work it was possible to observe the urban contrasts driven by the implementation of a large enterprise, the Catuaí Mall, regarding the interests of space modifying agents. The visualization in loco of this phenomenon made possible the internalization of ideas generating later works. This edition in honor of the contributions of this great researcher, it is important to highlight the work that inspired our research for the conclusion of a course for the bachelor’s degree in Geography, because through the impressions of what happened in Londrina, it was possible to study the phenomenon occurred in Maringá, when the same mall was implemented in the municipality. They were under the intricacies of the orientation of the said professor, who later, without realizing it, the academic life called us.
