In this context, the objective of this work is to determine the morphometric characteristics of the hydrographic sub-basins that belong to the Ivaí river basin, in the municipality of Maringá, Paraná, Brazil. For this, geoprocessing instruments were used, such as QGIS and geographic information systems (GIS) for morphometric analysis. The results obtained were: sub-basin area, perimeter, slope of the main drainage, shape factor, drainage density, concentration time and longitudinal profile of the main river. These data are fundamental to understanding the hydrological dynamics of basins and their link with human and environmental actions, in addition to providing relevant contributions to future studies and effective regional planning of water resources and basins. However, some limitations, such as deprivation of resources and personnel, are identified, thus recommending that future research encompasses fieldwork and promotes the symbiosis of multidisciplinary approaches, also considering socio-economic, environmental panoramas and other areas of knowledge, for a holistic understanding. of the subject. In short, this research enriches the understanding of the sub-basins of the Ivaí River, providing subsidies for governments to manage sustainable policies on water bodies in Maringá and the region.
Gabriel Perina Gongora Thallita Puzi Ferrassa Gabriela Martini da Mata Sandro Rogério Lautenschlager Daiane Maria De Genaro Chiroli Cristhiane Michiko Passos Okawa Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 17 1 03 19 GEOGRAFIA FÍSICA A EVOLUÇÃO DA GEOGRAFIA FÍSICA COM O USO DE SISTEMAS DE INFORMAÇÃO GEOGRÁFICA: APLICAÇÕES, DESAFIOS E CONTRIBUIÇÕES NO MONITORAMENTO E PREVENÇÃO DE DESASTRES AMBIENTAIS EM QUELIMANE, MOÇAMBIQUE https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/70942
This study examined the impact of the incorporation of GIS into Physical Geography, with an emphasis on applications related to the monitoring and prevention of environmental disasters in Quelimane, Mozambique. Given the city's increasing vulnerability to extreme weather events such as floods and cyclones, the use of GIS proved to be essential. The results highlighted the technological transformation in the analysis of geographic data, providing a more efficient and detailed approach. GIS allowed for the creation of georeferenced databases and the modeling of geographic information to identify risk areas. In the context of Quelimane, challenges were identified, including limited technological infrastructure and disorderly urbanization. However, the importance of GIS in preventing environmental disasters and the need for awareness and public action were emphasized. In summary, this study demonstrates how GIS has driven Physical Geography, contributing to the safety and resilience of the community in the face of environmental challenges.
Ildefonso Age Caetano Henrique Manoel Da Silva Da Silva Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 17 1 21 34 O PROCESSO DE EXPANSÃO FÍSICO-TERRITORIAL DA ÁREA URBANA DE PARANAVAÍ - PR (1952 – 2022) https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/76128
This article analyzes the process of physical-territorial expansion of the urban area of Paranavaí (PR) between 1952 and 2022, highlighting the growth dynamics associated with economic changes, urban planning, and public policies. The research employed historical data, topographic maps, statistics, and remote sensing images to map the evolution of the urban footprint and identify growth patterns. The results indicate that Paranavaí experienced periods of rapid expansion (in the 1970s, 1980s, and 2010s) interspersed with phases of stagnation (in the 1990s and 2000s), influenced by factors such as the coffee crisis, accelerated urbanization, and the development of new housing projects. The analysis also revealed differences in growth patterns between the city and the district of Sumaré, highlighting the influence of geographic and economic factors on land occupation. The study contributes to the debate on urban planning and can support public policies aimed at organizing intra-urban space.
Estevão Pastori Garbin Carlos Cassemiro Casaril Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 2025-07-14 2025-07-14 17 1 35 62 O IMIGRANTE COMO PARADOXO: ENTRE A EXPLORAÇÃO ECONÔMICA E O INIMIGO CONSTRUÍDO https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/77150
This article analyzes human mobility as an intrinsic consequence of the capitalist mode of production, focusing on the paradoxical condition of the immigrant in the contemporary context. Although constituting an indispensable force for the global economic dynamics, the immigrant is simultaneously a target of stigmatization, exclusion, and restrictive policies, a phenomenon that reflects the structural contradictions of capitalist societies. From an interdisciplinary approach that integrates geographic, social, political, and psychosocial perspectives, the study understands the human being as an active agent in the transformation of space, mediated by material determinations and subjective motivations. The article dialogues with Giorgio Agamben’s concept of “bare life” and Achille Mbembe’s concept of “necropolitics” to deepen the understanding of the economic instrumentalization and political dehumanization of the immigrant. It highlights how mobility is regulated not only as a mechanism of exploitation but also as a government technology that legitimizes exclusion and vulnerability, configuring contemporary borders as devices of selective control and social death. The analysis includes the discursive construction of the immigrant as a social, economic, and cultural threat, emphasizing the psychopolitics of guilt as a tool to maintain power hierarchies and fragment solidarity. Through qualitative bibliographic research, the article systematizes classical and contemporary concepts to demonstrate that spatial transformations result from historical, social, and psychic mediations. Thus, it seeks to reveal the complex dialectic between economic dependence and political rejection of the immigrant, showing how this paradox updates ancient mechanisms of domination and inequality in the global space.
Vivian Rafaella Prestes Alexandre Luís Ponce Martins Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 2025-07-14 2025-07-14 17 1 65 81 ANÁLISE ESPACIAL DA MOBILIDADE PENDULAR PARA CURSAR ENSINO SUPERIOR NA CIDADE DE CORNÉLIO PROCÓPIO (PR) https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/71550

Cornélio Procópio is located in Norte Pioneiro Paranaense, its headquarters district has several higher education establishments, public and private, with face-to-face and distance learning modalities.
Keila Brito dos Santos Alba Hillary Keity de Gois Luciana Cristina Ferreira Dias Di Raimo Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 2025-07-14 2025-07-14 17 1 153 170 PERCEPTION OF STUDENTS AT ADÉLIA BRASIL FEIJÓ STATE SCHOOL OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SITES AND MAN/NATURE INTERACTION IN THE OCCUPATION OF BRAZILIAN TERRITORY https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/71778
This article brings an experience lived by high school students at the public full-education school Adélia Brasil Feijó, located in the city of Fortaleza, state of Ceará, during human sciences classes: Geography and History. The results show that although these dolls respond to sociocultural changes and incorporate elements of diversity, they also function as tools of normativity and gender stereotype reinforcement, often rooted in consumerist logic and capitalist interests. By examining how these toys engage with feminist and gender debates across historical contexts, the article argues that fashion dolls go beyond their playful function, operating as complex cultural artifacts capable of both preserving and adapting discourses about femininity. A mixed-methods approach is adopted—comprising qualitative and quantitative analysis of public documents, legal proceedings, institutional reports, and spatial mappings—to investigate how the company's territorialisation reveals institutional, political, and spatial specificities characteristic of the Global South. The study demonstrates that Mercado Livre’s business model is sustained by the continuous capture and monetisation of data, the mobilisation of a workforce engaged in precarious, flexible, and unprotected labour, and the extraction and utilisation of state incentives such as subsidies, tax exemptions, and special fiscal regimes. These elements reveal the articulation between the neoliberal logic of the free market (which gives the company its name) and the structural inequalities embedded in the territory. It is argued that such operational modalities tend to assume even more pernicious forms in structurally unequal contexts, such as Brazil. The findings underscore the urgency of a critical geography capable of grasping the territorial and world-of-work impacts of digital platforms and the profound transformations they engender in the general conditions of production in contemporary capitalism.
Flavio Lima Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 2025-07-14 2025-07-14 17 1 229 255 Extractivist reasoning, relational geographies and valuation conflicts https://periodicos.uem.br/ojs/index.php/Percurso/article/view/77149
The paper xamines the connections and intersections that exist among the three topics set out in the title. This concept includes Blue Infrastructure (BI), which is associated with water management as well as Low Impact Development (LID), Water Sensitive Urban Design Systems (WSUDs) and Best Management Practices (BMP). However, the relationship between GI and BI in urban and regional planning may not be obvious, even when examining important databases in the academic field, limiting its application. This paper tries to illustrate, using three samples of 77 publications, that BI is frequently overlooked in academic production connected to the implementation of GI in urban and regional planning (URP). Its aim is to expose the various perspectives, or variations, on BI in GI and URP research. Articles on the integration of GI in URP were collected from the Web of Science and Scopus and grouped based on analyses performed using database filters, and analyzed with Bibliometric, and VOSviewer. The results show that there is a significant difference in the presence of BI between the three groups, implying different approaches to urban hydrology within GI and its integration into urban and regional planning, and also a disconnect between authors and their areas when observing thematic maps that represent the development of this field in scientific research.
Valéria Borges Yonegura André Luiz Lopes da Silveira François Laurent François Laurent Copyright (c) 2025 Revista Percurso 2025-07-14 2025-07-14 17 1 295 320
