CENTRO HISTÓRICO DA CIDADE DE GOIÁS (GO) - ENTRE BECOS, POEMAS DE CORA CORALINA E O ESPAÇO TURÍSTICO: RELATO DE EXPERIÊNCIA

Abstract

This text - in the style of an experience report - was constructed from field activities in the Historic Center of Goiás (Goiás State) based on the discipline “Geography and Planning of Tourist Space”, from the master's degree in Geography, from the State University of Goiás (Campus Cora Coralina, Goiás City / GO) on may 12, 2022. With a theoretical-practical basis, fieldwork was carried out in the Historic Center of Goiás (Red River, Nossa Senhora do Rosário church, Cora Coralina's house, Bandstand Square and Fountain) on may 12, 2022, with cartographic support, specific literature, teacher-master's student dialogues and vice versa, photographic records and notebook notes to compose the report of experience. The core objective was to present the experiences lived by master's students during fieldwork in the Historic Center of Goiás, with the works of Cora Coralina, IPHAN cartographic material and texts by researchers Costa and Steinke (2013) and Albach and Gândara (2011). It is natural that over the years the urban space is modified, however, the Historic Center of Goiás remains preserved, in view of some factors such as the economic depression, that is, the drastic reduction in mining activity, the transfer of the capital of State for Goiânia (in the 1930s), also the attachment of the city's traditional families to the provincial style and maintenance of political power. Added to the list is the fact that it was listed by IPHAN and the declaration of Goiás as a Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO, conserving its architectural, historical, artistic and cultural heritage. Cora Coralina, specific literature and in situ visits made it possible to highlight the spatial segregation that left visible marks in the Historic Center, that is, the poorest population was moved to a new periphery, distant and invisible to the Historic Center. These important urban aspects of the Historic Center, contextualizing the life and alleys of the city, attract people to cultural tourism in Goiás, which is locally based, especially the air of a country town and so mentioned in the poetry and poems of Cora Coralina.
