Ethics and school physical education: A review study of the national scientific production
Abstract
Ethics is a fundamental theme in the debates about the role of the school in the formation of students and physical education. However, there are still many challenges in the development and systematization of pedagogical practices with this theme. The aim of this study was to analyze the national scientific production on the ethics in School Physical Education theme, between 2001 and 2018. This was a descriptive bibliographical review study. The corpus of articles analyzed was obtained through searches in the national journals of Physical Education with a Qualis-Capes B2 and above rating, which have a history of publications in the area of school Physical Education. The results highlighted three themes that are recurrent regarding the ethics theme: professional formation, pedagogical and ethical theories, and pedagogical proposals and practices. A total of 27 articles were found, which explains the low scientific production on the subject. The largest volume of publications was related to “Pedagogical proposals and practices”, which indicates that the area is concerned with the objects of intervention in the school. Few studies were, however, focused on the theoretical-methodological foundation, which is worrying, because it is possible that epistemological bases from other areas are being reproduced.
