About the focuses on recretion

Abstract

This study aims at showing the linguistic dispersion concerning the term “recreation”, its different senses, origins, the ambits where they are used, among other pertinent discussions. The difference between the noun “recreation” and the adjective “recreative” is also discussed, a misunderstanding that is widely generalized considering the traditional references of the area. Based on this, three theoretical-practical models that embrace actions and principles related to the recreation field are traced: the recreationism, the sociocultural animation and the educational recreation. The origin, characteristics and ideology of each term were established.
