The diameter of the Moon from the diameter of the Earth - from Erastothenes to Aristarchus of Samos

Abstract

At a time when misinformation is plentiful to our senses, via digital media, questions always resurface based on fragile evidence that do not hold up like flat earth. However, strong answers can be rescued by science, especially Physics and Astronomy, originated from a time when reason became part of human culture. This answer may arise from the work of Eratosthenes and Aristarchus of Samos, iconic characters of ancient science, in the calculation of the earth's circumference, its diameter and the lunar diameter. This is what we intend to show, the work of one (Eratosthenes) will serve as a basis for the work of the other (Aristarchus). Even though millennia have passed, the results, but mainly the technique they developed, are still valid.
