Abstract
In this work aimed to evaluate different treatments to overcome seed dormancy of Acacia mangium Willd. There were evaluated seven treatments: immersion of seeds into sulfuric acid (96% PA) for 15, 30, 60 and 90 minutes; immersion of seeds in boiling water (100ºC) for 15, 30 and 60 seconds and one tester, without previous treatment on the seeds. It was used four repetitions of 100 seeds for each treatment. After the treatment, the seeds were placed to germinate in gerbox with paper filter humidified at the medium temperature of 27.5ºC. The evaluations were made daily, during 21 days. There were evaluated percentage, speed and index of speed of germination and the first count of the germination test. The obtained results make possible to infer that: the immersion of seeds in sulfuric acid during 90 minutes and in boiling water during 60 seconds were more efficient for to overcome the dormancy of Acacia mangium seeds; the seeds were immersed in sulfuric acid during 90 minutes, showed better vigor, despite of the test; the immersion of the seeds in boiling water during 60 seconds can be the most suitable for to overcome seeds dormancy, due to the smallest cost, easiness of the handling and smallest time of executionDownloads
