Abstract

An experiment on the behaviour of the “wet season” peanut Arachis hypogaea (Leguminosae-Faboideae) cv “Tatu vemelho”, was undertaken in October 1995, with spacings 30, 40, 50 and 60 cm between lines and densities 10, 15, 20 and 25 seeds per meter, on a Brown Eutrophic Latosoil A, moderate, with high loam texture, on the experimental area of the “Fundação Faculdades Luiz Meneghel”, in Bandeirantes PR Brazil. Experimental design consisted of randomised blocks with three replications, 4 x 4 factorial scheme. Spacings affected cubically plant height, with a decrease tendency for greater spacings, stem diameter, number of branches, pegs and pods in direct proportion. With regard to density, plant height was affected quadratically, with an increasing trend; the number of pegs decreased with greater densities; the number of pods and stem diameter cubically, with a decreasing trend for greater densities; number of seeds; weight of 1000 seeds and length of branches had inversely proportional values
