Soil resistance to penetration and aeration porosity of dystrophic red latisol after two years of no-tillage planting
Abstract
Soil degradation promotes changes in soil related to quality in agricultural production. This study was conducted to quantify the alterations in the physical behavior of Dark Red Latosol, under the no-tillage system, developed on the Caiuá sandstone. Forty undisturbed soil samples were collected at a depth of 0-20 cm. Samples were used to determine air-filled porosity and soil resistance to penetration curve (SRC). Results indicated that at 0,01 MPa tension (field capacity), 25% of soil samples presented air-filled porosity below 10%. SRC indicated that with corresponding moisture at of 0,3 Mpa tension, soil resistance to penetration reached values impeding root growth.
