Use of different nutritional requirement guides on diet formulation for growing-finishing pigs - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v25i2.2008
Abstract
Two trials were carried out to evaluate performance and carcass traits of pigs fed with diets based on different nutritional guides. Trial I: four diets based on different nutritional guides were studied: TBRA83 - 1983 Brazilian tables; TNRC88 - 1988 National Research Council; IBRA96 - 1996 Brazilian industry tables and PBRA96 - 1996 Brazilian research data. Trial II: three diets were studied: TBRA00 - 2000 Brazilian tables; TNRC98 -1998 National Research Council and the same levels from IBRA96. In trial I a better feed conversion for growing pigs fed NRC88 was observed and the smallest and biggest value of costs and backfat were observed for TBRA83 and IBRA96, respectively. In the finishing phase, TBRA83 and IBRA96 showed the smallest and the biggest value of production cost, respectively. In trial II no difference between treatments were observed. It may be concluded that the new guides indicated by Brazilian tables (TBRA00) and Brazilian industry tables IBRA86 give the same performance, carcasses traits and costs as NRC (1998), when used for pig diets formulating.Downloads
