Abstract
The objective of this work was to evaluate the relationship between sperm head morphometry and chromatin packaging with the cleavage ratio and blastocyst formation during in vitro fertilization programs (IVF). Data of 38 IVFs using semen of zebu bulls with normal spermogram, carried out at two laboratories in Uberaba, Minas Gerais, Brazil, were used in this study. Sperm smears stained with toluidine blue and analyzed by computer image analysis were used to evaluate the morphometry and chromatin packaging. The packaging intensity and homogeneity of sperm chromatin were evaluated. The results made it possible to conclude that light variations in the head morphometry and chromatin packaging had little influence on the cleavage and number of morphologically normal blastocysts during IVF.Downloads
