Abstract

Estimation of quality forage mass available in a marandu grass (Urochloa brizantha (Hochst. ex A. Rich.) Webster) pasture was evaluated. Forage characteristics evaluated were chemical composition, organic matter in vitro digestibility (OMIVD) and potential and effective degradability of dry matter (DM), crude protein (CP) and neutral detergent fiber (NDF). Forage TDN values for green leaf and stem were estimated. Forage showed low CP (5.34%) and high NDF (74.95%). There was no variation on OMIVD and TDN during the experimental period, and average values were 48.69 and 53.52%, respectively.
