Influence of lactation stages on the counting of somatic cells of Holstein milk cows and identification of sources of mastitis pathogens in cattle
Abstract
Assay was carried out on the Experimental Farm of the Universidade Estadual de Maringá, Maringá PR Brazil. Influence of lactation stages and identification of causes of mastitis pathogens in cattle was evaluated. Forty-seven Black and White Holsteins cows were submitted to biweekly SCC and CMT analyses. SCC analyze was done in the Associação Paranaense de Criadores de Bovinos da Raça Holandesa (APCBRH) by an electronic somatic cell counter, whereas CMT was performed on the Experimental Farm. Results showed that no significant differences (p > 0.05) were found in SCC values for the lactation stages. Staphylococcus positive coagulase (49%) and Staphylococcus negative coagulase (19%) were the pathogens isolated with higher frequency.Downloads
