<b>Comparative study of hormonal inducement in piavuçu (<em>Leporinus macrocephalus</em>) semen with broiler chickens, rabbit and hipophysis extracts</b> - DOI: 10.4025/actascianimsci.v25i2.1996
Abstract
Three treatments for piavuçu, Leporinus macrocephalus (Anostomidae) reproduction were utilized: broiler chicken hipophysis extract (BCHE), rabbit hipophysis extract (RHE) and, as control, carp hipophysis extract (CHE). Fifty-five males with 0.69kg, on average, were randomly allotted in the three treatments. Semen volume produced were higher (p<0.05) in the treatments with BCHE (0.18mL) and CHE (0.16mL) in comparison with 0.03mL from animals treated with RHE. The spermatozoa/mm3 were similar (p>0.05) in the three treatments. There was difference (p<0.05) in relation to total spermatozoa produced between animal treated with BCHE and RHE. There was not any difference (p>0.05) among the treatments, in relation of spermatic vigor and progressive motility. The study revealed that BCHE was efficient on males gonadal inducement of Leporinus macrocephalus, but RHE was not efficient, mainly, for produced volume.Downloads
