Abstract

This paper analyzes the periphytic community in Irai reservoir, and verifies the composition and abundance of periphytic algae in winter (July of 2001) and in summer (November of 2001). The composition and abundance of the periphytic algae were related mainly to the temperature, water transparency and nutrients availability. The eutrophic conditions of the environment probably benefited the abundance of diatoms. However, the improvement in the limnological conditions in November provided fast enrichment in the number of periphytic algae species

Possui graduação em Biologia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1983) , mestrado em Botânica pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1988) e doutorado em Ecologia de Ambientes Aquáticos Continentais pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1998) .
