Abstract

The purpose of this paper was to survey taxa of Chlorococcales present in periphyton from Corumbá reservoir in state of Goiás, Brazil and to compare species richness before and after damming. Samples were taken in July 1996 (pre-damming phase), December 1996 (reservoir and filling phase) for July 1997 (Reservoir dam phase). Four sample stations along the river-dam axis were chosen. The firstlies in lotic water, two in mainstem reservoir, and one near the dam. Greater species richness was observed in July 1996 and July 1997, when compared to that of other months. This may be due to the dry season of the region in these months, associated to taxa adaptations to lentic environments. Scenedesmus quadricauda was the most constant species in the sampled sites

Possui graduação em Biologia pela Universidade Federal de Santa Catarina (1983) , mestrado em Botânica pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1988) e doutorado em Ecologia de Ambientes Aquáticos Continentais pela Universidade Estadual de Maringá (1998) .
