Structure and dynamics of rotifers in Corumbá reservoir, state of Goiás-Brazil - DOI: 10.4025/actascibiolsci.v25i1.2079
Abstract
The aim of this study was to investigate patterns of richness, abundance and diversity of rotifers in a recently formed reservoir, Corumbá reservoir in the state of Goiás. 104 taxa were identified and seven of them were constant. Brachionidae was the most diverse, particularly in the main part of the reservoir channel. The greatest densities were found in the riverine and transitional zones and in the arms of the reservoir. The diversity was higher in the riverine zone and in one of the tributaries. Rotifer abundance shows significant correlation with Cryptophyceae, Cyanophyceae, Chlorophyceae abundances, and primary production, expressed beyond the first Component Principal Axes. Results suggested that the hydrodinamic variation, typical of the spatial heterogeneity of the area under study, plus food available are determining factors to the structure of the rotifer assemblageDownloads
