Abstract

The results of a survey of Sphagnum used by the Descoberto and Empanturrado rural communities (Guaratuba municipality and Guaratuba Environmental Protected Area – EPA) are presented. The analysis was based on fresh material collected in different harvesting areas. Five species were recorded: S. capillifolium (Ehrh.) Hedw., S. cuspidatum Ehrh. ex Hoffm., S. erythrocalyx Hampe, S. perichaetiale Hampe and S. recurvum P. Beauv.. All of them are native species that grow spontaneously in that region and are intensively harvested by the local community. A key is presented to differentiate the species, and the botanical description, common names, geographic distribution and illustrations for each species are included.

Raquel Rejane Bonato Negrelle, Universidade Federal do Paraná

Lossui graduação em Ciencias Biológicas pela Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Paraná (1978), mestrado em Botânica pela Universidade Federal do Paraná (1988), doutorado em Ecologia e Recursos Naturais pela Universidade Federal de São Carlos (1995) e pós-doutorado em gestão sustentável de recursos florestais não madeiráveis pela Royal Roads University (Canada, 2005). Atualmente é membro efetivo do United Nations Disaster Assessment And Coordination Group, professor associado da Universidade Federal do Paraná, professora e orientadora da linha de pesquisa Desenvolvimento Rural junto ao Programa de Pós-Graduação em Agronomia- Produção Vegetal da UFPR; coordenadora do CEADERS-UFPR Litoral - Centro de Apoio ao Desenvolvimento Rural Sustentável. Bolsista CNPq- Produtividade em Pesquisa (1999-2001; 2006-2010). Representa a UFPR junto ao Comitê Acadêmico de Meio Ambiente da Asociación de Universidades Grupo Montevidéo (AUGM) e tambem junto a Rede Temática em Desenvolvimento Rural da Organización Internacional de Universidades para el Desarrollo Sostenible y Medio Ambiente (OIUDSMA). Tem experiência na área de Ecologia, com ênfase em Ecologia Aplicada, atuando principalmente nos seguintes temas: produção e extrativismo vegetal, produtos vegetais nao madeiráveis, desenvolvimento sustentável, biologia da conservação, Floresta Atlântica e Floresta com Araucaria Currículo Lattes
