Abstract

The implementation of a Systematization of Nursing Assistance (SNA) in health centers, despite the knowledge of its real importance in assistance practice, mainly with regards to qualification, individualization and humanization of patient assistance, needs to disrupt structural, cultural paradigms, unmystifying beliefs and institutional policies for the human being, while subject to and agent of changes. This study aimed at relating the nurses’ perceptions with regards to the implementation of SNA in a big philanthropic hospital. Data point out to the lack of instrumentalization and the professionals’ disbelief as to the implementation of SNA, associated to political, structural and culture aspects and to the institutional philosophy, mainly regarding clinic valorization and autonomy given to nursing care. More than a theoretical-practical process, SNA requires a reflexive place viewing the problematization of the concrete reality in which nursing professionals are inserted
