Abstract
This article aims to identify the factors influencing the teaching-learning process of the practice of physical exercise among the elderly. The research can be characterized as a descriptive one, whose results were discussed through a qualitative analysis. The sample consisted of 120 elderly people, aged 60 or above, being 18 men and 102 women, apprentices of physical activity in the city of Maringá, Parana State, Brazil. Data was collected by means of a questionnaire containing open and closed questions. Data was analyzed by an interpretation of the content of the thematic type. Results demonstrated several factors which can influence teaching-learning the practice of physical exercise among the elderly, such as: some diseases, relationship professor/student and some biopsychosocial factors in aging. These results seem to suggest to those who work in the area of the physical education, the formulation of a methodology which stimulates the elderly in all the spheres of their human behavior (motive, cognitive, affective, social and spiritual). Therefore, it fits to us, physical education teachers, to point roads for that methodology, thus establishing a direction towards new paradigmsDownloads
