Abstract

The aim of this work is to understand woman's experiences and reality during the climacteric phase and its influence on their quality of life. The sample consisted of 25 women from 35 to 64 years old. They are all participants in the group of Self-Counseling for woman in this phase, developed in the Nucleus of Integrated Medical Attention - NAMI / Unifor, from April to May 2003. The data were obtained through a semi-structured interview. The relevance of the Self-Counseling group was evidenced as support and incentive to the adaptation and in agreement with family and social coexistence. Also, the need of an attendance of committed nursery with information, education and promotion of health was evidenced.
