Abstract

This study has been developed in urban community of Cascavel City, southwest of Paraná state, Brazil, aiming to recognize the psychic suffering prevalence indicators in individuals living in this county. The data were studied following the elements of epidemiological research methodology and analyzed according to the number of existent psychic suffering cases. This study may offer components to researchers who investigate about the psychic suffering and to the health teams, because they must have these subsidies to improve the mental health assistance quality. We aim, through this investigation, to further the comprehension of psychic suffering epidemiological profile in this city and to provide elements for beginning or consolidation of future alternative services for mental health. This study should be extended to all health professionals, particularly to those who are interested in cases related to epidemiology and to psychic suffering.

Jacó Fernando Schneider, UFRGS

Possui graduação em Enfermagem e Obstetrícia pela Universidade Estadual do Oeste do Paraná (1984), mestrado em Enfermagem Psiquiátrica e Saúde Mental pela Escola de Enfermagem de Ribeirão Preto - USP (1995) e doutorado pelo Programa Interunidades de Doutoramento em Enfermagem pela Escola de Enfermagem de Ribeirão Preto - USP (1999). Atualmente é professor adjunto da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul - UFRGS, atuando no ensino da graduação e da pós-graduação da Escola de Enfermagem desta Universidade. É lider do Grupo de Estudos e Pesquisa em Enfermagem Psiquiátrica e Saúde Mental - GEPESM, com experiência na área de Enfermagem, com ênfase em Enfermagem psiquiátrica, atuando nos temas de enfermagem, saúde mental, enfermagem psiquiátrica, fenomenologia e família Currículo Lattes
