Abstract
This study aimed to understand the experiencing of sexuality by young people, aged 12 to 19 years old, of both sexes, with special reference to gender problems. The research consists of an exploratory, descriptive study. Eighty teenagers from a small town in the northwestern region of the state of Paraná, Brazil, were the subjects. Results showed a wide discrepancy of knowledge between males and females with regard to body changes, contraceptive methods, difficulties in talking about facts of life, virginity, relationships and motives that lead to sexual intercourse.
