Abstract

This study examines the implementation of mitigating measures established in the licensing business of a Waste Treatment Center responsible for the treatment and final disposal of municipal and industrial solid waste in Caieiras, São Paulo. Analyses were conducted of the implementation of mitigating measures defined in the environmental impact study based on documental proof, analysis of reports filed with environmental oversight organizations, as well as on-site visits to verify implementation of the measures. It was found that all mitigating measures recommended in the environmental licensure process had been implemented, ensuring the current environmental quality of the Waste Treatment Center in Caieiras.
