Abstract

The changes imposed on the environment have caused negative impacts on ecosystems, leaving them vulnerable. As a result, in recent years, the concern with the conservation of natural resources, soil and water has increased significantly. These anthropic influences alter the landscape and modify large areas such as forest cover, transforming them into numerous fragments, which interferes with the quality and quantity of natural resources. Given these considerations, this work aims to analyze the landscape structural quality in Itirapina - SP municipality, through the landscape indexes due to its physical characteristics with the land use and land cover present in 2006 and 2016, to analyze the effect of the modification of natural areas caused by human activities on the landscape structure. The methodological approach involved bibliographic and digital surveys of the database, where information was analyzed in the Geographic Information System (GIS), supported the determination of the Landscape Structural Quality Index, which verified the main structural impacts in the study area, enabling a better development and planning of actions aimed at the conservation of areas of natural vegetation and resulting in a good structural quality of the landscape and consequently of the ecosystem functions of the region.
