Abstract

Particle detachment of the soil's constituting materials may be measured by different methods, some of which involve long and high cost processes. The behavior of two types of soil has been investigated by the use of a simple method, or rather, water absorption (S) and mass loss by immersion (P). Samples' erodibility rate of sandy and clayey soils of A and B horizons was determined. Analyses showed that whereas only horizons A of sandy soils had high erodibility rates, rate of horizons B of these materials was low. Samples from horizons A and B of clayey soils were very stable, exhibiting a low rate of erodibility, which was even lower in horizons B.
