Zoning, conflicts and reclassification of Lagoa do Peri County Park, Florianópolis/SC

Abstract

This study aimed to analyze the current zoning of Lagoa do Peri County Park created in 1981. Bibliography and cartography, maps, and interviews with people involved with it were applied to identify several conflicts built over the years in the area. Illegal occupation is the most relevant conflict identified in the park, hindering its effective implementation and management. With regards to the adequacy to the classification required by SNUC (National System of Conservation Units) the survey results were: National Park, Natural Heritage and Environmental Protection Area. With the reclassification, the competent authority pretends to adjust the zoning in this new classification and to building a Management Plan. People will be invited to collaborate with it in order to achieve the objectives of its creation, minimize conflicts, and allow the development of management strategies in a balanced environmental perspective.
