Abstract

There is a lack of interpretative means covering the geological and geomorphological aspects in Protected Areas. Such resources, when available, often include aspects of biodiversity and do not include geodiversity. Scientific researches are made, but the results are not accessible to the public. This article aims to present examples and suggestions of interpretative means covering geological and geomorphological aspects. The methodology involved field trips in Brazil and other countries, apart from consulting the relevant literature. The interpretive resources presented here are personalized and non-personalized, and this study concludes that initiatives such as courses for guides, self-guided trails, excursions and tours, interpretive panels, lectures, games and recreational activities, printed material and audio-visual, museums, websites, and other interpretive activities should be encouraged in protected areas and areas that have tourism potential. With the help of the Environmental Interpretation landscape can be better understood and appreciated.
