Abstract

The article discusses the Apinagés community located in the city of São João do Araguaia (PA), before the future deterritorialization by the communication of the Marabá Hydroelectric Power Plant (UHE) in the period from 2010 to 2017. The main objective was to understand their perception because of the uncertainties that have been drawn in the imaginary in the context of the future deterritorialization and (dis) construction of identity by the news of the construction in the HPP, the positioning of the State, Centrais Elétricas do Norte do Brasil S / A (ELETRONORTE) and construction company Camargo & Corrêa. The research is qualitative and quantitative and opted for the philosophical orientations of dialectics and phenomenology. The concepts of territory, territoriality and identity contributed to an interdisciplinary view of traditional characteristics in the way of life of the Apinagesenses and reveals a culture based on the relationship with the Tocantins River and threatened by the hydroelectric plant in a social, economic and cultural context. In summary, it is hoped to highlight the conflictual relationship established between those affected by dams, the State and the Consortium, responsible for the materialization in the territory of enterprises that changes the natural cycles and the traditional way of life.
