The state of the art of Geography teaching and Environmental Education in the final years of Primary School
Abstract
The present research has as object of study Environmental Education and the Teaching of geography in the final years of primary schools. Assuming that these are marked by the study on the relationship between human beings, society and the environment. So that it is possible to affirm that environmental issues are part of the scope of Geography. Therefore, state-of-the-art research was carried out seeking to answer the following question: What does the research point out about the Brazilian academic production on the teaching of Geography and Environmental Education in the final years of primary schools? Aiming to map the relationship of geography teaching with Environmental Education in the final years of Primary Education in Brazilian academic production from the abstracts extracted from the Brazilian Digital Library of Theses and Dissertations (BDTD) since the first document available in BDTD (1967) until 2020. The data analysis was performed with the aid of the ATLAS.ti software. As a synthesis of the exploratory research, it is pointed out the lack of studies involving Geography, Environmental Education and the final years of Primary Education, since, of the 816 researches defined as final corpus of analysis, only 16 dealt directly and only of this stage of education. The amount of research found highlights the need for expansion of work in this field.
