Analysis of the performance of agents producing urban space in Altamira-PA
Abstract
The actions of agents producing urban space in Altamira went through several phases, from the opening of the Transamazônica Highway in the 1970s to the construction of the HPP Belo Monte complex in 2011. These events contributed significantly to the production of urban spaces driven by agents in the real estate sector, resulting in dispersed urbanization. Therefore, this research aims to analyze the process of urban expansion in Altamira-PA from the perspective of real estate development with the advent of the Belo Monte HPP complex. The research methodology consisted of a bibliographical survey and cadastral consultation at the Altamira City Hall and at the 1st Office Property Registry Office. The information collected was consolidated in the form of graphs, tables, charts and maps. It was found that the first large subdivisions emerged at the end of the 1970s and 1980s, intensifying over the following decades. Especially in the 2010s, there was a much more intense pace of occupation and insertion into the urban movement than in previous decades. The main promoting agents were the developers, attracted by Belo Monte's investments, Norte Energia S.A. through RUCs, and the State with national housing policies (PMCMV).
