Abstract

This study has diagnosed regions at risk of impact of water resources in terms of irrigation systems used for agricultural demand in the Unit of Water Resources Management of the river basins in Piracicaba, Capivari and Jundiaí (UGRHI-PCJ). LUPA-2007/2008's information database has allowed us to obtain information plans, constituted on SIG environment, under spatial distribution of the irrigation systems used and the risk they present to the region's water resources, in terms of water consumption and systems efficiency. According to the results, 67% of the cities in UGRHI-PCJ use irrigation systems that require low water consumption and high efficiency, and only 37% of the cities have a high risk of impact to water resources in the region. The sub-watersheds of Atibaia, Jaguari, Jundiaí and Camanducaia are the regions that need more attention and a specific and integrated planning. Therefore, we have come to a conclusion that the proposed methodology has provided necessary subsidies to identify areas in UGRHI-PCJ which offer greater insight to the impact of water resources, then being able to be used as a tool for the analysis and environmental management of the watersheds.
