Abstract
This article has the objective of learning and analyzing the conceptions of youngsters regarding accidents and violence. It is an exploratory and analytical study with support on the typology of qualitative studies. It was developed at the Health District 7 in the municipality of Porto Alegre – RS with 23 youngsters, fifteen out of them male and eight female, who suffered some kind of violence or accident. Data was collected through semi-structured interview, and the Content Analysis was of the Thematic Type. Their conceptions were split into central ideas that reveal the following relevant structures: Ideas about violence: death, crime and drug trafficking; ideas that show different form of violence in everyday life: interpersonal, sexual and verbal and ideas that characterize the concept of accident: transit. One draws the conclusion that the conceptions described by the youngsters regarding accidents and violence are centered in a set of features from the family, political, economic, social and cultural contexts.Downloads
