Abstract

This article was structured with basis on some questions: how to think of a family? What relation can be established between care and family? What theoretical basis can be of some help in the process of assisting a family? In the literature reviewed, we searched to identify some changes occurred in the family. We made use of a general theory of systems as a reflection point in the assistance process. A family is seen as a basic element in the care relation. It is understood that caring is not just a moment of dedication, it is an attitude that involves family and professional know-how.
