MARACATUS-NAÇÃO E RELIGIÕES AFRODESCENDENTES: UMA RELAÇÃO MUITO ALÉM DO CARNAVAL
Resumen
Neste trabalho nós enfatizamos que a relação existente entre as religiões afro-descendentes e os maracatus-nação é fruto de uma construção humana, e como tal, dotada de historicidade, e por isso mesmo deve ser contextualizada. Os indícios de que as religiões afro-descendentes buscaram abrigo nos maracatus-nação durante a repressão exercida contra eles nos anos trinta e no Estado Novo, podem ser pensados como sinais de que essa relação talvez nem sempre tenha existido. Além disso, necessitamos compreender que não há uma homogeneidade nessa relação e que, além dos xangôs, a Jurema e a Umbanda também estão presentes. Abstract. The relationship between the Afro religions in Brazil and the maracatus is a human construct, or rather, it involves historicity, and may thus be contextualized. In spite of the fact that Afro religions have sheltered within the maracatu institution during the repression of the 1930s and the Vargas’s New State, the relationship may have not always existed.
