A REVISTA DO INSTITUTO HISTÓRICO GEOGRÁFICO BRASILEIRO (IHGB) E AS POPULAÇÕES INDÍGENAS NO BRASIL DO II REINADO (1839-1889)
Resumen
Resumo. Este trabalho tem como finalidade apresentar e discutir a presença de temas relacionados às populações indígenas publicados na Revista do Instituto Histórico e Geográfico Brasileiro, no Brasil do II Reinado (1839-1889). Essa abordagem se justifica pela relevância da discussão sobre o que fazer com as populações indígenas no contexto da constituição do Estado Nacional brasileiro. Acreditamos que ela pode contribuir não somente para a compreensão dos conteúdos presentes nas políticas indigenistas do Império Brasileiro, mas também para o conhecimento de muitos outros aspectos dos grupos indígenas que viviam e se relacionavam com a sociedade imperial envolvente. Abstract. Themes on Brazilian indigenous populations in the Historical and Geographical Institute Review during the Second Reign (1839-1889) are provided. Current approach is justified due to the relevance of the discussion on what could be done with indigenous populations within the context of the constitution of the Brazilian nation-state. Research may contribute towards an understanding of items in indigenous policies of the Brazilian Empire and for a better knowledge on the various native groups and their relationship with the imperial society surrounding them.
