Analisaremos as intervenções de Joaquim Macedo Bittencourt, médico, prefeito e importante membro da elite cafeeira, no espaço urbano de Ribeirão Preto, seus laços de intimidade com a política e o poder privado e os traços de modernidade e modernização da cidade durante a Primeira República.
