TERRITÓRIO DAS AMÉRICAS: OS USOS DO PASSADO E AS RELAÇÕES INTERAMERICANAS NAS RUAS DO RIO DE JANEIRO
Resumen
Este artigo trata das relações interamericanas como fato urbano e toma a cidade do Rio de Janeiro como estudo de caso. Neste sentido, o trabalho analisa como as conferências interamericanas organizadas no Rio de Janeiro em 1906, 1942 e 1947 promoveram rituais públicos que mobilizaram a sociedade urbana, transformando as ruas da cidade em território das relações interamericanas. O estudo trata, também, a toponímia das ruas do Rio de Janeiro, demonstrando como a nominação de logradouros públicos se relaciona com as tendências da política exterior brasileira e caracteriza uma modalidade específica de usos do passado. Abstract. This article deals with Inter-American Relations as an urban fact, taking the city of Rio de Janeiro as a case study. In this sense, this work analyses how the Inter-American conferences organized in Rio de Janeiro in 1906, 1942 and 1947 promoted public rituals that mobilized urban society, making the streets of the city a territory of Inter-American relations. The study also deals with the toponymy of the streets of Rio de Janeiro, showing how the naming of public places is related to the trends in Brazilian foreign policy and characterizes a specific modality of uses of the past.Descargas
