CITY ROUTES: CITIES AND THE TEACHING OF GEOGRAPHY
Abstract
The development and potentialization of studies on the issues of town and cities coupled to the production of urban space in the teaching of Geography are provided, with special reference to Maringá PR Brazil. At the end of current research, a bibliographical review on the theme and field works generated a Didactic Guide of Urban Routes of Maringá. The transformations of the city’s urban landscape throughout its history are highlighted and investigated, with a special focus on architecture, culture, environment and social and economical characteristics. In fact, the above are urban traits that signalize symbolic spaces of the city’s identity. The study’s main aim has been greater interest in teachers to teach and in students to learn this important current geographic theme.
