Abstract

This study proposes to examine the morphological variations in streams that drain the urban area of Marechal Cândido Rondon city. The accomplishment of this study was possible by the measurement of the side view in the stream that drains the urban area of Marechal Cândido Rondon, west of Paraná. The measurement of the side view followed the methodology proposed by Olson-Rutz and Marlow (1992) and the mapping of the areas in study was performed with the software Global Mapper version (10.01). The cross-sections analyzed were measured in 1999/2000 and 2008. In this timescale, it was observed that among the eleven monitored sections, seven had deposition of sediments as the predominant process and in the other sections the erosion of the riverbed. These data may help in understanding of the functioning of tropical landscapes and its planning.
