Abstract

This paper search is the identification of some geomorphological changes caused by mining, specifically limestone, with the spatial area the municipality of Rio Branco do Sul in the state of Paraná, a city that has great potential for this natural resource extraction. For this, he tried in an integrated way, to know and characterize the natural components that make up the region together with the socioeconomic conditions and their joints. This study was structured to address the specific reference in locus and analysis, backed by instruments such as cameras and satellite images, which resulted in the collection of data and generating information that expressed the changes in morphology due to local extraction process limestone. Although the population has not yet felt the direct effects of the activity in their daily lives, with regard to possible environmental damage they cause loss of quality of life, were highlighted as examples of changes: removal of native vegetation, siltation ofriver channels, clipping slopes, visual impacts, changes in geometry, among others, that future may bring negative consequences for the inhabitants. In this sense the research could help in planning projects and land management.
