FROM ARAUCARIAS FOREST SURROUNDED BY IGUASSU TO THE DEVIDED TERRITORY - GEOGRAPHIC COUNTER SENSE AND SENSE FROM PORTO UNIÃO DA VITÓRIA (PR/SC)
Abstract
Between the years 1912-1916, the states of Santa Catarina and Paraná were the scene of violent conflict involving government troops and native mestizos of Santa Catarina and Paraná Plateau North South, resulting in thousands of dead, wounded and prisoners. Stands out among the origins of the Contestado War, the rise of a messianic movement, disputes over land and the issue involving interstate boundaries. Although not War scenario, Porto União da Vitória suffered the consequences occurring in around, fear, lack of security and business interruption.Analyzing the territorial dynamics, the city is linked intrinsically to this historical episode after all suffered even direct influences by territorial division into two new cities, born in postwar Porto União (SC) and União da Vitória (PR) known today as Twin Iguaçu. Aiming to unravel Porto União da Vitória, one urban area of about eighty thousand inhabitants, we attempted to rescue fragments Contestado through oral landmarks and monuments located in the cities. It was concluded that in addition to sharing the same history , territorial delimitation arising after War is characterized as merely geographical , perpetuating the people in Porto União Vitoriense memory its origins , the places where they live and have identity ties .
