Abstract

The landslides of bulk natural processes that are part of the dynamic evolution of the slopes and consequently the relief as a whole. In Brazil, these processes and related events of great magnitude, when occurring in the occupied areas, are compared to actual natural disasters, because they cause significant socioeconomic losses. The media and consequently the society at large, generally consider the landslides only from the viewpoint of environmental disastrous occurrences, which endangers the population and their economic activities and thus disregards the performance of processes such as forces inherent in the process of formation and evolution of the landscape. In this sense, this research was based on the events of March 2011 occurred in Serra da Prata, housing relief belonging to Serra do Mar, between the municipalities of Morretes and Paranaguá on the coast of Paraná State to report by consulting the reference specific, field analysis, interpretation of satellite imagery and photographic material, some consequences of these natural phenomena to the local geomorphology, demonstrated through some selected photos.
