VIOLENCE AND INSECURITY IN CORNELIO PROCOPIO (PR)

Abstract

The understanding process of the geographical space is essential in the analysis of Human Sciences. So, the urban environment has become the main place of residence of Brazilian society. In this space, increasingly conflicted, urban violence and insecurity have become recurring guidelines, arriving in recent years, at the academic benches, including Geography. This article focuses on the violence and insecurity in Cornelio Procopio, Northern of Paraná. Although the approach at the local level, the presented situation is recurring, generally under the different spaces at different scales - global, national, regional and metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas. Overall, the North of Paraná has the genesis by the formation and socioeconomic changes of the last fifty years, changing the roles and meanings of urban centers, including facing the loss of centrality, among them security.
