Abstract

This papper aims to indicate the correlation between the morphology of drainage and morphotectonic in Alto Pitangui River basin, which is located in the transition from First with the Second Paraná Plateau. At the realization this work we used the topographic map of Abapã and Passo do Pupo, and morphometric indices such as Factor Asymmetry, Asymmetry Factor, Transverse Topography, Slope Value-Extension and longitudinal profile. The Pitangui River is considered as an antecedent, having a strong structural and tectonic control that directly influence the shape of the basin, which is elongated in the NE-SW direction, presents the nicked main channel and embedded in structural lineaments in some areas, and other areas presents extensive floodplains. The main characteristic of the main channel is represented by longitudinal misfit, and the application of index gradient allowed the detection of six sections with anomalous gradients distributed along the upper and middle river course, that presented anomalies of 2nd order associated with lithological changes, relief alignments and channel confluences.
