TERRITORIAL CONFLICTS IN FAXINAIS: CASE STUDY IN PINHÃO PARANÁ
Abstract
The installation of the timber industry, the process of agricultural modernization, along with the Paraná population policies, triggered a series of territorial disputes in the field. In forest areas, the process of occupation justified at times the deforestation, and left the Paraná with few remaining forests, many of these occupied by traditional people that are resistant to modernization process and the replacement of forests by monoculture. Among these the highlights are the faxinais, which are a social organization, cultural and environmental characteristic of Mesoregion Center South of Paraná state. The pressure from different social groups (landowners, logging companies, industry, etc.), cause a series of conflicts between faxinalenses, who has in the land the use value, and the other segments, whose interest is the exchange value. In this context, our goal in this article is to problematize the conflicts in Faxinal of Ribeiros, located in Pinhão Town, State of Paraná. For this, we conducted qualitative research with observation of the participating members. The data presented here are part of the author's thesis work.
